Design of Decompression Interactive Device Based on Gesture Interaction

February 2018 - June 2018

The Origin of This Topic

According to the UK Health and Safety Executive Labor Force Survey, more than 488,000 people suffered from stress-related illnesses in 2015, accounting for 37% of all work-related illnesses. According to the findings of the American Psychological Association, 75% of adults claim that they are under moderate to high pressure.

Helping people to relieve stress is an important way for individuals to maintain their physical and mental health, which can effectively reduce the incidence and mortality of depression anxiety. For the society, helping people to relieve stress is one of the important means to improve social productivity, happiness and social development. Understanding and helping people to relieve stress has important social significance, and helping people to relieve stress is necessary for both social development and individual development.

Design Goals

Emotional experience is an important means of interactive installation design. It can use the empathy method to successfully bridge the gap between users and devices. In this way, when the user participates actively or passively, the device can actively mobilize the user's emotional memories, naturally immersing the user and causing the user to contemplate and achieve the creator's purpose.

She is an athlete. She usually carries the red plush belt that she has on her shoulders. When she is uneasy or nervous, she will subconsciously touch the belt to alleviate this emotion. This tape is called "the pacifier". Many children's childhood parents unconsciously give their towels and toys a chance to become a child's "pacifier". They will not be abandoned until they grow up.

When the students around me feel pressured, they will come to the cat cafe to touch the cat or make fun of them. When they return from the cat cafe, they feel a lot better.

An acupuncture store places a plush toy on the customer's side when the customer receives acupuncture treatment to relieve stress. They find that this method can achieve the purpose of decompression more effectively.

Interview

Touching makes me feel at ease, I must hold a plush toy when I sleep.

The cat is an angel, it lie on my lap, when I touch it, it is the best moment of my day.

When I see the stuffed stuff, I will touch it unconsciously, which makes me feel relaxed.

When I am nervous, I always like to touch my hair to ease this emotion.

Confirm

According to the New York Times, physical contact with humans or animals actually causes the body to produce oxytocin, a hormone that lowers the level of the stress hormone cortisol. This means you just need to touch the fur of your cat friend to ease your stress and let you relax.

Through such a report, I began to think about whether it is possible to talk about the abstraction of limb movements into an interactive device. When the user interacts with it, he can feel relaxed and happy. The design goal I hope to achieve is that the user generates certain behaviors under the guidance of the interactive device, and such behavior is one of the ways to guide the user to reduce stress.

Technology

Hardware

In order to control the brightness of the bulb, the PWM wave adjustment method is adopted, and the control is performed by three single-chip microcomputers, the bulb covered by the gesture is pointed to the brightest, and the uncovered portion is gradually reduced to the darkest.

The core of the interactive device is the somatosensory recognition system. This system uses the Leapmotion somatosensory recognition camera from Google. This camera is an open source device that can directly edit the language code in the source code inventory to achieve the identification content I need.

Software

WPF-based graphical user interface, Microsoft.net-based serial communication, Leapmotion provides a gesture recognition system.

Solder a MOS tube on the control panel of the spotlight to trigger the drive switch so that it can receive the command to be controlled by the computer. Then, the positive and negative poles of the spotlight are connected, and the PWM and GND interfaces are connected, and an IO port of the MCU is connected. Go to the PWM control terminal on the control chip of the bulb.

When the control panel is created, place it on the easel and connect the leap motion for gesture control testing. After the test is completed, the entire model is completed.
